Self-care is really big right now…

Self-care is really big right now throughout the world. The more we are becoming aware of the role mental health plays in your overall wellbeing, the more we start to engage with self-care practices. You want to feel your best and live a happy, fulfilling life, right? Well, one of the best ways to do that is to put yourself first and learn how to fall in love with the person that you are. Practice self-care and see how your self-love starts to exponentially grow.

While self-care and self-love are two different things, they each play a huge role in your happiness and mental health. You are practicing self-care when you do things to take care of your physical and mental health. Taking the time to take a bath, watch your favorite movie, or meditate for a bit. Those are all examples of self-care. On the other hand, self-love is all about feeling comfortable and happy in your own skin. Self-care activities can often help lead you to this place of true love and acceptance for your full self. By taking care of your body and mind first, you can learn to prioritize yourself again and truly understand that you are worth all the love in the world. Here are just a few examples of ways self-care can lead to fulfilling self-love.

Look your best, feel even better.

Self-care often includes a lot of pampering. When you treat yourself to exterior care, you can feel more relaxed, increase your confidence, and feel beautiful inside and out. So that trip to the spa can actually help you love and appreciate your body even more. Even little things can just bring you joy and make you feel great.

Try buying a set of stick nail decals and giving yourself a little manicure. Taking the time to make your nails look fabulous or have great skincare or get a massage to ease tension in your body will remind you that you are worth pampering. You’ll feel more comfortable with your body and find that confidence within. And while external beauty isn’t everything, it can help you find that confidence and love the inside even more.

Practicing mindfulness helps you feel centered.

When you practice self-care, you aren’t just pampering your body, but your mind as well. Practicing mindfulness is a huge aspect of self-care and something you should prioritize. Sure, mindfulness may sound like something for a hipster yoga instructor or your parents coping with and surviving a midlife crisis, but it is a great tool for everyone. The whole concept revolves around being present without stressing about the future or feeling overwhelmed.

Taking the time to meditate, go to counseling, journal, or whatever method works for you can help you center your mind and return to your present moment. This will assist you to stop overthinking, comparing, or stressing which can lead to improved self-love and feeling better about yourself overall.

Prioritizing your time leads to prioritizing yourself.

Prioritizing your time is a huge element of self-care. Rather than committing to activities you don’t want to do, you get to chose what will bring you joy and make you happiest. Taking these steps will remind you that you are worth prioritizing as well. Remember to love yourself first and only do the things that feed your soul.

Speaking to yourself more positively will help you love yourself more.

One of the most basic ways to practice self-care is by ending complaining and bringing more positive self-talk to your life. By lifting yourself up instead of being hard on yourself, you only increase your confidence. By telling yourself you are worthy and can do anything you set your mind to, your self-love will improve because you’ll start to believe it.
